Search the Archives:
After
signing up you will automatically be logged in & may begin searching by clicking the 'Search Archives'
button. On the next page you’ll see the following screen (the Default View).
There are two ways to find information, both explained below.

-
Please note many of the units used slightly different terms when naming their documents; there are some
document titles using OP and other Operation. Dashes ( - ) are also used in different combinations, especially
with dates; you may see 27-Dec-66, 10 Dec 66 & also Dec-66.
The most important thing to consider is to not use to much information, at least initially. Instead of using
"3rd bn 7th marines aug 1965", start with "7th marines" or even just "7th". See what results you receive
and further refine based on upon the style that shows up. The most accurate way to seach is to
first look at the ( Archive Index - PDF - 825 KB download) or
select from the (Archive Index - Search)
- this will show you the exact sytax used for each particular unit.
An example is shown below from the Archive Index - PDF
available on-line to download. As seen below in the picture there are 3 red boxes, the text in those columns are what you
may search on.
Once you've found the word(s) that will give the best results, enter them into the 'Search Box' & click 'Submit'.
You may enter a Unit, Title or Date: (FMFPAC, III MAF, Chu Lai, Tet, Jan-66, etc.)
or portions: (FMF, MAF, Chu, Jan, etc.). To help narrow your results you may need to narrow your
search terms by using more specific terms. There is a max of 500 files per search results.
You will see the results on the next screen, as shown below. Just click on the document title & it will
open in a new window utilizing Adobe Acrobat Reader.
-
You may also utilize the CD drop downlist to view the contents of each CD. If you've looked up which
unit & dates you'd like in the Index, you can select the CD from the upper left and click 'Get CD'. This is
also shown below.
The results below are shown from the contents of CD 061
