| Q. I'm often times required to re-enter the same login information more times than seems necessary. Why? |
| Simply put there are millions of users using the Internet (Web), so it only takes a very small percentage of
'rogue' users to spoil it for the everyone. Over the course of the last ~10 years there have been several methods to help combat
the 'spoiled apples' but that usually means more of an inconvenience for the legitimate users. There has also been a fairly strong
campaign on the evils of 'cookies' so some users have tightened their use to the point where it becomes essentially non-beneficial
to the legitimate user. Unfortunately this site will NOT work correctly w/o the acceptance of cookies from our server(s). There
are some custom settings which you can modify to still maintain vigilant force against the evils of the net while still allowing
our essential cookie usage. Go to 'Tools' -> 'Internet Options' -> 'Privacy' -> 'Web Sites / Edit', then enter our address
'www.thevietnamfiles.com' AND Choose 'ALLOW', then click 'Ok'. This will maintain your current cookie settings with other
web site(s) while allowing the passing of information needed for our site. If there's any questions of confusion with this subject
please don't hesitate to contact us. |

| Q. Sometimes when I take a short break from viewing the web site or using the computer I'm asked to re-enter my username
and password. Why? |
| A. A fair amount of users access the Internet from 'remote' locations like work, Cyber Cafe's , or other locations
where multiple people use one computer. If you did not close the browser when you stopped using the computer, then the
next user could easily view this web site, potentially with all your confidential information associated with your account at
their finger tips. You're password could be changed, your email changed, and they could possibly
sign up for an Annual pass using your account information. |

| Q. I click on the document from the list, then see the first page (just below the document to the lower left) i see the
page number '1'. I click on the print icon (or choose file -> print from the menu bar) and nothing happens. Why? |
| A. As noted in the 'Help!' section, most of the documents/images are quite large; in the size;
48% of the files are over 5 MB, 75% are over 1 MB (sample of 6 CD's). Most users are familiar with web pages that open relatively
quickly (within 3-5 secs.) so when you encounter pages that take from 45 secs. to upwards of 20+ min it may appear the browser or
system has locked up, or just 'not printing'. Unless you're used to downloading software programs, updates/patches or movies/mp3's
this delay will seem like an eternity. This is one of the reasons i recommend always downloading the desired files to your
hard drive first, then open them for viewing/printing. If your Internet connection is anything less than low-end DSL expect your
wait to be upwards of 60 to 90 minutes, or more!
